Note: males weighing around 120-140lbs would be considered underweight and males weighing over 195lbs are usually grossly overweight. Some exceptions do exist, but let me make clear, no matter what any breeder or boerboel owner has told you, it is not often. Most females land between 120lbs and 170lbs, with a full spread of 100lbs to 185lbs. In general, if you are comparing the boerboel to a Cane Corso, the boerboel will be much bigger than a Cane Corso on average. How they are developing will determine if they are put on Victor Hi-Pro or not. **Q: Are boerboels active?** A: Some are more active than others, but in general boerboels are pretty relaxed dogs. We have some boerboels that are slow chewers and can eat rawhide type chews. Some will try to swallow an entire large rawhide roll after only 5 minutes, which is very dangerous. I would do as we did and stay away from rawhide all together now. Nylabone and Benebone brand chews seem to be our go to. Deer/Elk antlers have been a decent option so far, I would just caution they may end up damaging their teeth with those; depends on the dog. **Q: What are good boerboel treats?** A: We found beef lung bites to be great treats for boerboels. They do not have preservatives, it is just one ingredient, no additives, and the dogs love them. These can be found on Amazon. **Q: Do boerboels have a prey drive?** A: Our experience comes with mixed reviews on this issue. I would say their prey drive has a lot to do with how you raise them. If you encourage the prey drive, they will for sure develop it, but if you discourage it, they will likely do much better with it. How much do boerboels eat?** A: Our boerboels eat twice a day. Every boerboel seems to need a different amount of food and overall weight is not a determining factor. Some metabolize calories differently. A well-bred, well-socialized boerboel is calm, affectionate, and tolerant with its own household, including kids it was raised with, but it does not extend that warmth to everyone by default. Every dog entering the USA must now be at least 6 months old, microchipped, and healthy on arrival, and the importer needs a free CDC Dog Import Form receipt.
